1. Customer must present receipt for repairs to customer water system as proof that the cause of the high bill has been corrected.

  2. Calculation of adjustment:
    1. The leak adjustment is not to exceed a period of two (2) months.

    2. Calculate the average water bill for the three (3) months prior to the occurrence of the leak.

    3. Subtract the average bill from the high bill for each month. Divide this remainder by two (2).

    4. Customer to pay the average bill plus the amount calculated in part C per month.

    5. If a customer has not been a customer long enough to calculate an average bill for the previous three (3) months, the high bill may be reduced by one-third (1/3).

  3. This adjustment to be limited to no more than two (2) times in any one-year period.

  4. In the case of natural disasters such as tornados, hurricanes, floods, or fires, the adjustment can be similar to the above by having the customer pay the average bill and the remaining consumption being charged at the rate of the production cost of the Water District.

  5. In cases relating to low income customers with an abnormally high water bill due to a leak or break, the adjustment can be similar to the above by having the customer pay the average bill and the remaining consumption being charged at the rate of the production cost of the Water District.

  6. In the event a customer is not satisfied with the adjustment, he/she may request, either through the staff or by personal appearance, an additional adjustment from the Board.

  7. Under no circumstances can the adjustment result in a charge less than the rate of the production cost of the Water District.

  8. This High Water Bill Adjustment Policy is restatement of the existing policy as applied by the Water District.
